Rebuilding Sycosure: Part 2

As I mentioned in the first part of this series, I wanted to start rebuilding Sycosure. I wasn’t able to get around to doing as much as I wanted, but I have made some decent progress in improving this site and working toward the development of a nice project I’ve had the works since late last year (I’ll share more about this project at the end of this post).

Let’s start off with the analytics data. We’ll do the last 14 days since that’s what we did last time.

Analytics Data

Okay, there’s some pretty decent improvement there. It’s not just people from BHW sharing my article either, it’s also an increase in every source of traffic. But really, people are still sharing my farewell article.

What I’ve Been Working On

Functionality

I’ve fixed all of the outdated functionality on this website. It wasn’t really hampering anything, but some aspects of the site were in need of an update. It should also load a little bit faster now.

Parternships

I’ve also been working on getting some more partnerships in place as well. We currently have one right now, but we’re looking into another one right now.

On-site Advertising

I’m going to re-enable ads here on Sycosure. However, the old ads were too intrusive and annoying (I mean, I didn’t want to go to my own website, that’s how annoying they were). This was obviously not intentional, I just suck at adding ads.

I’m working on this in the middle of writing this post up.

Update: Apparently, the reason it was so unsightly before is because I left AdSense’s auto ads or whatever on like an idiot. I have a WordPress plugin that I usually use to display the ads in a way that isn’t really annoying, so I’ve re-enabled that. Ads are working again on Sycosure and only display on these blog articles.

Our Next Big Project

This is something I’m very excited to announce. Some of you I’ve confided in will know that we have a really big project we’re working on. In fact, we’re collaborating with many others to bring this project to life. It’s technically been in the works since around November 2024, but we started working on it again after the incident, and boy have we made quite a bit of progress on it.

I’ll announce it here on Sycosure once it’s ready and even provide a link to it in our menu bar. It’s something I believe many people in the digital marketing industry will really like, especially as I’ve been asked to do this for many years. I will confess that I lacked the confidence to really work on this, at least until now.

Next Steps

Google Reviews

I really need some reviews for Sycosure. I’ve worked with so many people over the years, but I never get any reviews since almost all of my clients come through word-of-mouth referrals these days. I don’t even think any of my clients are aware that I have a Google Maps listing.

It’s time to change that. One of the next things I’ll be working on is asking my past and present clients if they can leave a review on Google. My Google Maps profile for Sycosure actually gets quite a lot of views, so hopefully this makes it more likely for us to get some clients through this listing.

Google Maps Listing

Our Google Maps listing is in desperate need of a makeover. All those people visiting the listing are missed opportunities to get new clients. Filling out the listing should help generate some leads.

I still need to properly work out what services I’m going to offer from here on out, but consultancy is one of them.

Also, I just found out the service I’ve been offering for years is “business systems consulting”. I didn’t realise it had a name as I’ve not come across anyone else offering this kind of service.
