Remember that big project I was talking about in our “Rebuilding Sycosure: Part 2” post? Yeah, it was a digital marketing forum we call Office Outlaw.
Now, many of you have asked me to create a forum over the years I was an administrator of BHW. I’ll go over why it took this long, but I kept it a secret that I’ve been working on this over the last several months.
What Is Office Outlaw?
Office Outlaw started off as a forum to discuss black hat office work. I started it off this way so as to not compete with BHW in case anyone came across it (you know, plausible deniability). This would’ve been BS because I was always planning on making it a black hat digital marketing forum as well, but it’s also more than that.
You see, those of us who do black hat internet marketing don’t just stop with internet marketing. I noticed through being a part of the community that being black hat is a lifestyle; it’s something we just naturally gravitate toward in everything we do.
- Need to rank your site? You find out how to manipulate your rankings.
- Need to write an article? You train an AI model to write it for you.
- Need to get a job? You find unorthodox ways to make yourself stand out from the crowd.
- Need to get food cheaper? You make multiple accounts on food apps and take advantage of their first-time promotion deals over and over again.
- Need anything? You black hat it.
Some people make you feel bad for doing these things. “But what poor McDonald’s? Making a bunch of accounts is a violation of their TOS!” Who cares? This food is over-priced and they’ve been taking advantage of their customers for decades.
But being black hat doesn’t mean you’re devoid of morals. It’s one thing to do this to a mega corporation, it’s another thing to do this to someone else like you who’s just trying to get by.
That’s why Office Outlaw is a black hat lifestyle forum, because I know there are many others like myself who would not be alive today if they just “played by the rules” that are made up by people who would gladly change them the second they no longer benefitted from them.
I started off some of the sections of OfficeOutlaw with my own posts on how I managed to survive a toxic corporate environment by using various tools to trick their silly tracking systems and stats they keep misreading. I want this to be a place where the community can really engage with each other on every aspect of their lives.
Final Thoughts
As I mentioned before, for nearly as long as I was a moderator on Black Hat World, I had been asked by those in the black hat internet marketing community why I didn’t ever start my own forum.
I did not want to start my own forum as I always cared about, and still care about Black Hat World. Even when I became unhappy with how the forum was being run (which was pretty much after getting hired), I always thought my best chance to make a difference there was to tough it out and remain on the in-house team.
Around 2020, I still had people asking me why I don’t just start my own forum, but the reasoning changed. I wanted to start my own forum, but I started losing my confidence to go through with it. I knew that if I started an internet marketing, my time at BHW would be limited. I knew my account would be stolen (yes, not banned, stolen) and kept as “BHW property” as this happened to me on an other platform. Also, as we all saw, this is exactly what happened on BHW when my contract was terminated, anyway. I wanted to remain a member of BHW, but this realistically could never happen.
I can’t promise this will be the next thing, but I can promise that the values you saw me display as an administrator on BHW are the same ones I will display on Office Outlaw. I want this to be about the community first and foremost, and I’m looking forward to being to being able to show everyone how a forum can be run.
