Every now and then, I like to test out these exams that Google offers to write reviews and then place the certifications on the About page of this website. The latest exam I tested out was the Google Analytics IQ Certification Exam; IQ here stands for “Individual Qualification” and not “intelligence quotient “.
Information About The Google Analytics IQ Certification Exam
What Is It?
If you haven’t already guessed it based on the name, the Google Analytics IQ certification exam tests your knowledge of using Google Analytics. It’s a free certification that individuals who have a Google Partners profile can use for their business or to put on their résumés to demonstrate a proficiency in using Google Analytics.
How Hard Is It?
I would actually argue that it’s pretty easy if you actively use Google Analytics to review and modify your website based on your site’s analytics. For example, here’s a question I got on my Google Analytics IQ Certification exam:
You need to immediately find out whether people are viewing the new content that you just added today. Which of the following would be most useful?
You had to chose between Annotations, Secondary Dimensions, Intelligence, and Real Time. If you’ve used Google Analytics for more than a minute, then you already know the answer is the “Real Time” feature.
Of course, there were more difficult questions on there as well as I only got a 91% on the exam. In my case, the difficult questions were about ecommerce as I’ve never used Google Analytics on an ecommerce site. However, even the ecommerce set of questions had their own easy questions, so it wasn’t too bad.
How Do I Prepare For The Google Analytics IQ Certification Exam?
You have 3 options to prepare for the Google Analytics IQ Certification exam:
Option #1: Continue Using Google Analytics
Like I said before, if you’re already experienced with Google Analytics, this test should be relatively easy for you. I would suggest using option #2 and option #3 just to review the material, but it shouldn’t always be necessary
Option #2: Use The Study Material Provided By Google
Google provides study material on the same page you can take the exam (your Google Partners profile). It goes over everything you need to know in order to pass the exam.
Option #3: Gaiq-Center
Finally, you can use this Gaiq site to study for the test. Unlike the study material Google provides, this website provides direct questions and direct answers to over 100 different questions on the exam.
Alternatively, if you want to be a cheater, you can just use the Gaiq-center while you’re taking the exam, although since the test is timed and you can’t copy the text from the exam (right-click is disabled), you would have to type out the questions in their search bar, find the question, and then find the answer.
What Do You Get For Passing The Google Analytics IQ Certification Exam?
The first thing you get in a link to a certificate (valid for 1 year) that you can print out or display on your website. My certificate is shown below.
The second thing you get, which is basically just the first thing, is a link on your Google Partners profile that says you’re certified in Google Analytics (assuming your profile is public). You can see what this looks like by visiting my own Google Partners profile.
